Our Mission Statement:
Women & Family Life Center empowers women and their families to face challenges and transitions in their lives with grace and dignity. Within our safe and intimate setting on the Connecticut Shoreline:
Women and families in crisis move to new strength
Life transitions become a time of positive change rather than a time of isolation, fear, and financial distress
Women and families are able to access a strong network of support, education, and community
Our Vision Statement:
Women & Family Life Center: Inspiring women and families to explore the endless possibilities in their lives, make meaningful connections with others, and create lives filled with promise.
Our History:
Women & Family Life Center began in 1989 as a community outreach center for women and children at the Peace & Justice Center of St. George’s Church in Guilford, Connecticut. In 1991, the Center secured non-profit status, hired its first executive director, and expanded programs to address the needs of Shoreline families. The Center moved to its present location at 96 Fair Street in Guilford in 1998 after a successful capital campaign, and programs and services have been growing ever since.
Today we are an independent non-profit organization that helps women and families face challenges and transitions through support, education and referral services. Services at the Center are available to women and families from any town, though we primarily serve Branford, Guilford and Madison. Most of our programs are offered free of charge, and scholarships are available for those that have a fee. We provide a safe place to face change, challenge, or crisis.
