The Provincetown Theater opened in June of 2004 to rave reviews from both the community of Cape Cod and the greater New England area. Provincetown now had its first permanent home for theater since the Playhouse on the Wharf burned down on March 25th, 1977. This was a dream come true for the creative community and its audience.
The Provincetown Theater has the capacity to seat 180 people for performance under special circumstances but normally performs with a 130-145 seat capacity depending on individual show requirements. Our lobby can accommodate up to 90 people standing and features a full bar. There is no kitchen on site but available caterers are only a phone call away.
The Provincetown Theater Company at the Provincetown Theater produce a plays, musicals, festivals, readings, literary and social service conferences. By employing full and part time workers and doing business whenever possible within the local community, the company has played a part in local cultural economic development.
An important part of the Provincetown Theater Company’s mission is to provide performance space for individual producers, community groups, service and performing arts organizations on Cape Cod and beyond.
