Santa Rosa's Original Certified Farmers Market was established in 1967. It was founded by Paul Mancini, Bob Cannard, Charles and Kay Stark. It was just the four farmers; there were no crafters or vendors of specialty foods. Kay Stark and her daughter Ami are still seasonal vendors known for their striking fresh flower bouquets. All of the flowers are grown on their property in Santa Rosa. California began its certified market program in 1979 and the Santa Rosa Market was among the first in the state to become a certified market. The market prides itself on showcasing the diversity of Sonoma County. There are about 85 vendors currently and a waiting list.
