The Dallas Street Branch had its beginnings in January 1995 as the Stonewood Village Branch, located in a storefront at Stonewood Village Shopping Center at the corner of Rogers Avenue and South 74th Street on the east side of Fort Smith. On February 26, 2000, it relocated to a brand new 11,000-square-foot building, the first of four new library buildings to open after Fort Smith voters approved a temporary sales tax to fund new public library buildings in Fort Smith. It was renamed the Dallas Street Branch for its location at 8100 Dallas Street.
