About Us
Children's Leukemia Foundation of Michigan is a statewide
organization that provides information, financial assistance,
and emotional support to Michigan families that have
been affected by leukemia, lymphoma, and related blood
disorders. We offer a variety of services to meet your needs
and your family's needs.
We've been helping patients and their families in a
compassionate and personalized manner since 1952.
We've been there. We know. And until there's a cure, we're
here to help.
Need Financial Support? We Can Help
We offer a Financial Assistance program - up to $1,000
per fiscal year toward . . .
- Treatment costs for patients with little
or no insurance
- Prescription costs for patients with little
or no insurance
- Travel to and from treatment centers
- Wigs and head coverings
We also offer a Special Needs Fund - up to $500
(separate from the $1,000) to cover the expenses that
fall through the cracks of traditional financial aid
programs (e.g. lodging, rent/mortgage, auto repairs, child
care, etc.).
Real People, Real Support
If you call CLF during normal business hours, you'll always
get a friendly voice to talk to. You get the support and
answers you need, when you need them - now.
Information Is Empowering
Our social workers listen to patients and caregivers,
determining needs and providing a steady hand through
tough times. We provide casework and information &
referral services in order to guide families to the resources
they need.
Through our Resource Room we provide print, audio, video,
and electronic information to help families learn more
about cancer and issues surrounding it. The Resource
Room is available on either a walk-in or mail-out basis.
All newly registered families receive Stepping Stones, a
150-page binder filled with facts, interactive exercises, and
referrals that empower families with the information they
need to gain answers to their illness-related questions.
The Emotional Support You Need
We offer a Peer Support Network to connect newly
diagnosed patients and family members with trained
volunteers who share common experiences.
We host days of respite that give families a chance to have
fun and meet others facing similar circumstances.
During the holidays, our Hearts For Hope Project: Share
the Joy With a Toy, lifts families' spirits at a time when
they are facing many stresses on their finances, time,
and emotions.
We offer a Ticket Program that sends families to local
entertainment events, giving them temporary, but
needed, respite from the demands of living with a
serious illness.
