Oklahoma City, OK – On Jan 29th, as Robert F. Kennedy Jr. testifies before the Senate for his nomination to serve as Secretary of Health and Human Services, Oklahoma Democratic Party Chair Alicia Andrews issues the following statement:

"The Senate has a duty to confirm leaders who will protect the health and well-being of all Americans. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is not that leader. His long history of promoting misinformation about vaccines, public health, and reproductive care makes him wholly unfit to serve as Secretary of Health and Human Services.

"We know better than to confirm Robert F. Kennedy Jr. We know that vaccines save lives—history has shown this time and again, from eradicating polio to controlling Ebola to mitigating the impact of COVID-19. We know that restricting abortion care does not end abortions; it only makes them unsafe. We know that science must be grounded in rigorous, reputable research, not conspiracy theories and junk science.

"Furthermore, the American people deserve a leader at HHS who can be trusted. Mr. Kennedy has repeatedly misled the public and sown distrust in the very institutions tasked with keeping us safe. His nomination is a direct threat to the integrity of our healthcare system.

"The Senate must reject Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s nomination. America deserves better leadership—leadership that prioritizes evidence-based policies, public health, and the well-being of all people and we know it."
