With Docent Guided Tours and Self-Paced Open Houses

Learn the stories only historic houses can tell!
Docent Guided Tours – Learn from a Tempe History Museum guide how historic houses are connected to tourism, agriculture, the environment and more! Offered at Eisendrath House, a 1930 Pueblo Revival home in the rolling desert next to Papago Park and Petersen House, the oldest Queen Anne Victorian brick residence in the Salt River Valley. 10 spots are available on each tour and registration is open now.
Large Group Private Tours – Bring your group of 11 to 20 people for a private guided tour of Eisendrath House, an evocative desert vacation home or Petersen House, a splendid Victorian ranch house. Request now for January through April.
Saturday Open Houses – Enjoy a casual, self-guided experience when Tempe’s historic houses open to the public. Free admission, no registration necessary. Parking is limited, carpooling encouraged and donations welcome!

Tempe has 50 parks for recreation, picnics, places to walk the dogs, enjoy water features, biking, paddle boats and more. At this free event, hear how the network of parks was developed, how their amenities continue to be developed and 3why Tempe has earned national awards for setting aside these get-away places for its citizens.
Mark Richwine is the retired Tempe Parks and Recreation Director and has spent 31 years in parks management.

Tindal Muzic
Friday, Jan 17, 7 p.m. I Free Event
Tindal Muzic is an alternative soul duo that met while teaching songwriting and instrumentation at a rock camp for youth.They were brought together by their shared love of musical influence such as Sade, Erykah Badu, the trip-hop/alternative movements of the 1990s and soul music from the ‘70s and ‘80s.
This free event will be held in the museum’s Community Room.
African American Advisory Committee Book Club
The Collected Poetry of Nikki Giovanni: 1968-1998
Wednesday, Jan. 29, 5:00 p.m.
Free virtual event via Zoom
Dr. Felicia Durden will lead a session featuring the book The Collected Poetry of Nikki Giovanni: 1968-1998; the discussion will take place on January 29. This will be the only session for this title.

Black History Month Kids Activity Day

Join the African American Advisory Committee of Tempe History Museum for a fun, interactive kids' day to celebrate Black History Month! There will be hands-on activities, games, a book vendor, a food truck and more. This fun, free event is for the whole family.
