DES MOINES - Iowa GOP Chairman Jeff Kaufmann released the following statement in regards to Rob Sand's finance report being filed with the Iowa Ethics and Disclosure Board:

“Today, Rob Sand and his family are exposed trying to buy his political future. Rob Sand claimed to be 'building a movement,' but his wife, Christine, and in-laws, Nix and Nancy Lauridsen, poured in millions, accounting for $7 million of his fundraising. Hardworking Iowans know the value of a dollar, and don’t have the luxury of having a silver spoon feeding them their career. The charade is up for Rob Sand, and every hardworking Iowan now knows who he really is.”

BACKGROUND: 
Over 80% of Sand's total-$7 million-came directly from his own pocket and contributions from his family. Despite his massive self-funding, Sand spent $1.17 million in campaign funds just to raise $1.6 million from donors he isn't related to.
