From Shuttering the Department of Education to cutting Medicaid and vital USDA programs, Iowa’s Congressional Delegation has a lot to answer for during their week-long break
DES MOINES – Members of Congress are working in their districts this week and Iowa’s Congressional Delegation has a lot of questions to answer while they’re here.
1. Do they support Donald Trump’s calls to immediately shutter the Department of Education?
2. Will they vote to cut Medicaid by supporting the House Budget resolution?
3. What are they doing to make sure the farmers in Iowa will receive the $10 million that they were promised and owed for planting cover crops? Do they support massive cuts to the USDA and SNAP?
4. Do they support the mass firing of federal employees in Iowa who support our veterans, farmers, seniors, and even the folks who keep our national parks and monuments open?
“Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress are promising massive overhauls to our federal government, yet none of Iowa’s congressional delegation have talked to Iowans about these proposed changes. Our elected representatives should face the reactions that Iowans are having to the cutting of vital services for our veterans, farmers, and children,” said Iowa Democratic Party Chair Rita Hart.
