Supervisors OK $35,000 in Outside Agency Tourism funding

Pima County - The Pima County Board of Supervisors at its May 16 meeting unanimously approved a combined $35,000 for Outside Agency Funding through the Attractions and Tourism Department, concluding tourism funding for the 2022-23 fiscal year. The approved funds will be divided among three outside organizations.

The organizations receiving funding include Old Pueblo Trolley/Southern Arizona Transportation Museum, Tucson Symphony Orchestra, and the Tucson Juneteenth Festival. Old Pueblo Trolley, Inc., will receive $15,000 while the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and Tucson Juneteenth Festival will both receive $10,000 each. The funds are being used for projects that include a mural, live concert performance, and event operating costs.

“Our department’s mission is to ensure that Pima County is one of the premier destinations for visitors and residents alike,” said Diane Frisch, Director, Attractions & Tourism. “Providing financial assistance to a wide range of organizations is just one way we can accomplish that mission and make sure anyone, regardless of their interests, can find something to enjoy when they visit Pima County.”

With these funds, the Board of Supervisors will have approved more than $426,000 in grants for 22 different non-profit organizations for the 2022-23 fiscal year, which ends June 30, 2023. The funds provided through Attractions & Tourism are used to assist events, celebrations, and programming that support tourism in Pima County. To learn more, visit the Outside Agency Funding website.
