Here’s a reminder that Joe Lombardo is still fighting his ethics violation. In 2023, Lombardo was censured and received one of the largest fines in history by the Nevada Ethics Commission for violating ethics laws during his gubernatorial campaign. He’s now suing to eliminate the Ethics Commission altogether after his cronies - who he appointed days before his ethics hearing – couldn’t protect him from the law.
His unethical behavior doesn’t stop there. One of Lombardo’s first acts after being elected was establishing a dark money inaugural committee, breaking with bipartisan precedent so he could keep Nevadans in the dark about who is giving him money and how that money is being spent.
After siding with the slumlord billionaire who bankrolled his gubernatorial campaign and vetoing several bills that would have lowered housing costs for Nevada residents, Joe Lombardo hired as his chief of staff a former lobbyist who represented a corporate landlord that also stood to benefit directly from Lombardo’s anti-tenant vetoes. Lombardo also protected the interests of the big drug companies when he vetoed a bill which would have lowered prescription drug costs to the Medicare-negotiated rate for all Nevadans. The big drug companies later rewarded Lombardo with nearly $100,000 in campaign cash.
Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Tai Sims:
“Joe Lombardo’s repeated attempts to deceive Nevadans and violate ethics laws to help his political ambitions prove he is nothing more than a desperate politician who will do or say anything to win an election. Lombardo is pushing the agenda of his special interests donors - and that’s why Nevadans can’t trust him to look out for us.”
