6:00pm - 8:00pm : Festival Kickoff Party - Crystal Saloon

The Spring Festival is a multi-week opportunity to gather with friends and neighbors to reconnect and share magical moments. Join Zuill, Sandy and the whole Juneau Jazz & Classics team at the Crystal Saloon (upstairs) for the kickoff party to celebrate the beginning of the Festival.

Juneau Jazz & Classics presents Artistic Director & GRAMMY award winning cellist, Zuill Bailey, and Bryan Wallick, the powerhouse pianist of his generation. Bailey & Wallick will wrap you in a warm embrace of familiar classical pieces that seem like old friends. Bring your loved ones and connect through beautiful music and the comfort of friendship.

The Brown Bag series kicks off with Artistic Director & GRAMMY winning cellist, Zuill Bailey, and piano mastermind, Bryan Wallick. This free lunchtime concert is designed for elementary school kids. We bus the kids to the venue for an educational and fun concert. The public is also welcome. Bring your lunch, relax, and enjoy some of the best performers in the world with your fellow community members. This brown bag series is supported in part by the City & Borough of Juneau.

Bryan Wallick performs a free concert at the Juneau-Douglas City Museum as part of their summer exhibition Wild Joys: Creating Community Through Performing Arts. Strangers become neighbors through shared artistic experiences. We invite you to witness and remember our community's beloved arts performances while creating new memories as Bryan Wallick serenades you with classical piano.

The Brown Bag series continues with blues and rock guitar virtuoso, Memphis Gold. This free lunchtime concert is designed for elementary school kids. We bus the kids to the venue for an educational and fun concert. The public is also welcome. Bring your lunch, relax, and enjoy some of the best performers in the world with your fellow community members. This brown bag series is supported in part by the City & Borough of Juneau.

7:00 pm - 9:00 pm : Blues Dance with Memphis Gold - Juneau Arts and Culture Center

Memphis Gold, blues guitar mastermind, brings his soul and groove straight to your heart and your feet straight to the dance floor. Come early and participate in a pre-concert dance lesson, designed to give you some moves to show off when the music kicks on. The blues is on the menu but no one leaves the floor feeling down, unless of course you were "gettin' down." A bar with beer, wine, & soda will be available. Attendees under 21 must be accompanied by a guardian.

8:00pm - 11:00pm : Blues Cruise - Allen Marine Tours

The Blues Cruise brings the party to the water. Featuring Memphis Gold, the master blues guitarist, set against an Alaskan backdrop. We hope to see whales, but we know there will be plenty of wildlife to observe on the boat as everyone cuts loose. Grab your dinner before the cruise and bring cash for the bar. We'll have dessert covered. Meet at Statter Harbor in Auke Bay to catch the boat. We leave at at 8:00pm sharp. All ages welcome; under 21 should be accompanied by a guardian.

We bus the kids to the venue for an educational and fun concert. The public is also welcome. Bring your lunch, relax, and enjoy some of the best performers in the world with your fellow community members. This brown bag series is supported in part by the City & Borough of Juneau.

6:00 pm - 8:00 pm : Community Workshops - University of Alaska Egan Wing

The Spring Festival is about fostering a love and appreciation for live music. What better way to do that than to learn from the professionals themselves? Members of the JACK Quartet and the Christian Fabian Trio will demonstrate what goes into making these musical experiences happen. First, there will be a demo/Q&A, then we'll break out into groups for technique and ensemble workshops. Total time is 2 hours, 6-8pm. Classical: Violin/Viola/Cello, Jazz: Channeling Lionel Hampton. All levels and experiences are welcome. Even if you don't play, auditors come away with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the craft.

8:00 pm - 11:00 pm : FREE Jazz Jam - Crystal Saloon

Christian Fabian from the Lionel Hampton Big Band will be hanging out at the Crystal Saloon and listening and joining the jam session. Bring your intruments or support your neighbors as they jam out with the best of the best. Everyone and all abilities are welcome to play or listen. All ages welcome; under 21 should be accompanied by a guardian.

5:30 pm - 7:00 pm : Strings at the Shrine - National Shrine of St. Therese

Witness the world premiere of John Luther Adams' newest composition, Never and Always Becoming. Performed by the JACK Quartet, known for pushing the boundaries of chamber music. With the sonorous acoustics of the church and the unique melodies of the pieces, you'll soon realize this is no ordinary string concert. There will be 2 back to back concerts. The JACK Quartet opens the first concert with John Cage's String Quartet in Four Parts and the second with Philip Glass' String Quartet No. 5 before showcasing John Luther Adams' world premiere, Never and Always Becoming at both performances.

7:00pm - 9:00pm : Festival Finale: Lionel Hampton Big Band - Elizabeth Peratrovich Hall

We're going out with a swing and a bang. The Lionel Hampton Big Band tears it up with the greatest hits from one of the greatest jazz legends in history. You asked for exciting and fun. Well, be careful what you ask for because there will be no time to rest during this high energy concert. There will be a free swing dance lesson before the concert for all ticket holders, so come early and bring your groove. Cash bar with beer, wine, and sodas will be available. All ages welcome; under 21 should be accompanied by a guardian.
