Joe Lombardo Called Legislation to Lower Costs for Nevadans '********'

Government and Politics

January 7, 2025

Last year, while speaking at Freedom Fest Joe Lombardo called Democrat-led legislation to lower costs for hardworking Nevadans “********.” Lombardo doubles down on his vetoes when it seems politically advantageous and runs from them when he faces potential repercussions for the damage he’s done. He told the Nevada Independent “No” when asked if he regretted vetoing bills that would have made housing more affordable for Nevadans. He later flat-out lied in the same interview about vetoing legislation that would have guaranteed school meals for public school students saying “I didn’t veto it.”

********” bills Joe Lombardo vetoed:

  • Lombardo vetoed several bills that would have lowered housing costs for Nevada residents in support of policies that benefit the slumlord billionaire who bankrolled his gubernatorial campaign. Now, Nevada is facing one of the toughest housing crises in the nation with eviction rates in Las Vegas being among the highest in the country and homelessness skyrocketing.
  • He vetoed a bill that would have guaranteed school meals to public school students and as a result, a recent report revealed that Northern Nevada parents have accrued more than $60,000 of debt due to his veto and Washoe County school had to drain savings to temporarily try to help parents and students.
  • After vetoing a bill that would have lowered the price of Medicare-negotiated prescription drugs for all Nevadans, a report found that Joe Lombardo raked in nearly $100,000 in campaign cash from big drug companies.
