DES MOINES – Iowa Democratic Party Chair Rita Hart released the following statement on Zach Nunn’s vote to cut SNAP:

“To pay for tax breaks for the well-off and well-connected, Zach Nunn gutted SNAP, a food nutrition program that more than 260,000 Iowans rely on and generates economic activity that impacts our farmers, grocers, truck drivers and more. Nunn’s vote couldn’t have come at a worse time for Iowans who are struggling to get food on their tables or for members of our agricultural community who are facing an economic downturn and a growing number of layoffs.

Iowans deserve leaders who will have their best interests in mind rather than the billionaires and the top 1 percent who are looking for another tax cut.”
