DES MOINES - Iowa Democratic Party Chair Rita Hart issued the following statement regarding Mariannette Miller-Meeks’ vote to cut Medicaid and SNAP and pull a fast one on her own constituents:

“Miller-Meeks promised that she’d protect Iowans’ Medicaid, but her vote this morning proves that was just another lie. The Washington mega tax bill will drive up the cost of groceries and health care for regular Iowans with the biggest cuts to Medicaid and food assistance in history while still taking on $3.8 trillion in new debt to give tax breaks to the well-off and well-connected. Miller-Meeks won her election by less than 1,000 votes, yet she’s prioritizing the well-off and well-connected over her constituents.”
