The Kansas Democratic Party will host Former Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn at its State Convention in Topeka

Former Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn will deliver the keynote address at the Kansas Democratic Party’s annual convention in Topeka Kansas on Saturday March 1, 2025. During the Washington Days dinner banquet, attendees will hear a message delivered by one of the officers on the front lines during the January 6th insurrection at the US Capitol.

Officer Dunn was among the heroes who combated the armed rioters for hours during their attack on the Capitol. As the mob breached barriers, broke windows, defaced the Capitol, and called for the murder of, then Speaker Nancy Pelosi and former Vice President Mike Pence, Office Dunn and his colleagues fought back, successfully holding off the rioters and securing the building. Due to the bravery of Capitol Police officers including Officer Dunn, the attempt to stop the certification of the votes from the November 2020 presidential election, and disrupt the joint session of the Congress was thwarted.

Washington Days is the Kansas Democratic Party’s annual state convention and 2025 will be the reorganization including election of executive officers.
