Governor Walz Issues Writs of Special Election to Fill Vacancies in Senate Districts 29 and 47

ST. PAUL, MN - Governor Tim Walz on July 29 issued two writs of special election to fill the vacancies in the State Senate formerly held by Senator Bruce Anderson and Senator Nicole Mitchell.

Special elections to fill the vacancies in Districts 29 and 47 will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. If necessary, special primary elections for nomination of candidates will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Affidavits of candidacy and nominating petitions may be filed with the Secretary of State or the county auditors of Hennepin, Meeker, or Wright Counties (for District 29) or the county auditors of Ramsey and Washington Counties (for District 47) from Wednesday, July 30, 2025, until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
