From: Wyoming Governor Mark GordonGovernor Mark Gordon is working with state agencies to closely monitor the serious multi-vehicle pile-up on I-80 near Green River in the west-bound tunnel. State agencies and personnel have deployed resources to support all efforts to resolve any and all issues resulting from the accident and to support those impacted by the tragedy. First responders were on site immediately Friday and are continuing to work the active scene. The tunnel will be evaluated by the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) and the road is now closed with no estimated time of opening.
“I am praying for all concerned and their families. I have directed the appropriate agencies to work with the local communities to offer aid and assistance to the injured, to those who have suffered loss, and in support of efforts to resolve ongoing concerns,” Governor Gordon said. “I am immensely grateful to the emergency responders who acted so quickly and without concern for their own personal safety to reach those in peril. We will offer any and all assistance we can to the fullest extent of my powers. Safety for the community and for those directly affected is our top priority.”
WYDOT is temporarily detouring traffic through the town of Green River and is working on a permanent route. Drivers and community members are encouraged to utilize Wyoming 511 traffic information app for travel updates.
