From: City of GunterSeveral or the City of Gunter's leadership team are participating in the High Performance Leadership Academy sponsored by the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). The High Performance Leadership Academy is a 3 month program created to equip local government professionals with leadership skills in organizational development and change management, negotiation and collaboration, effective communication, and how to deliver increased value from high performance management. Students will complete four courses:
1. Leadership Mindset & Positive Engagement
2. Leading Effective Change
3. Communication and Collaboration
4. Leading High Performance Teams
Participants include: Rick Chaffin, City Manager, Jeff Gibson, Police Chief, Lorie Lankford, Finance Director and Angi Young, Assistant to the City Manager. "As Gunter grows, development of our leadership team is foundational and essential," states Rick Chaffin, City Manager. "We are preparing our organization for the impending growth and will embrace best management practices to ensure we do the best job possible to serve our community." There are approximately 6,300 local government leaders who have completed the program since its inception in 2014 and currently approximately 350 enrolled in this current Academy cycle.
The ICMA was founded in 1014 and strives to advance professional local government through leadership, management, Innovation, and ethics. Members are the professional city, town, and county managers who are appointed by elected officials to oversee the day-to-day operation of our communities.
