ADP Statement On The Seating of Temporary Elected DNC Members
Montgomery, AL – Chairman Randy Kelley of The Alabama Democratic Party offers the following statement on the seating of the Temporary DNC Delegates:
“Today the DNC Credentials Committee agreed with the Alabama State Democratic Executive Committee’s (“SDEC”)’s position with respect to the DNC Credential Challenge from Alabama filed by former DNC members Josh Coleman and Caroline Self, by their authorized representative Ralph Young. Our temporary elected members to the DNC are Joe M. Reed, Donna Foster, and Charlie Staten. Those members will be allowed to vote in the selection of DNC Chairperson and other officers in Washington D.C.
We are working hard to build our party in Alabama. The Challengers will have an opportunity, should they choose, to seek election to the DNC for the 2024-28 term at the SDEC’s April 2025 meeting. In the meantime, Alabama is entitled to representation on a temporary basis. The SDEC Executive Board has chosen temporary elected DNC members. It is time for the boycotts, challenges, and objections to stop.
It is time for our party to move forward. We are grateful that the Credentials Committee conceded the validity of our election to seat our temporary representatives, and urge the Challengers, and all of our SDEC members, to participate fully and actively in the DNC member election that we will have in April 2025.”
