From: Arkansas Air and Military Museum

The Northwest Arkansas Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc.(Northwest Arkansas (jackandjillinc.org)), which is an organization of local mothers devoted to nurturing the leaders of tomorrow, is partnering with the Arkansas Air & Military Museum for Black History that will shine a light on the extraordinary history of the Tuskegee Airmen and the remarkable contributions of other Black trailblazers in aviation. This program's mission is to empower our community by connecting them to the rich tapestry of Black history, illuminating the sacrifices made for progress, and increasing awareness about the museum itself.

This year, as the Jack and Jill chapter proudly celebrates its decade of dedication and growth, the Auxiliary Teen Group members from the chapter will design and donate Black History exhibits to the museum, creating treasures that our community will cherish and celebrate for generations to come. Some of the planned exhibits include celebrating the first Black pilot from Arkansas, spotlighting the groundbreaking Bessie Coleman, and showcasing the valiant legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen along with other inspiring figures in aviation. These exhibits will be available to the public for the entire month of February.

On February 22nd, we envision a vibrant day of activities titled "Black Flight," where invited teens from the community will join the teen members and dive into a series of engaging experiences, including a heartfelt discussion with a family member of a Tuskegee Airman. Additionally, we would orchestrate a fun-filled scavenger hunt, allowing attendees to explore the museum while interacting with various dynamic stations. True to our mission of inclusivity, some of the programs will ensure that our visually impaired community members can fully experience these stories, seamlessly aligning with the museum's existing offerings.

The Northwest Arkansas Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc, will also be doing the artifact Friday's for the month of February.

When: Saturday, February 22, 2025

Where: Arkansas Air and Military Museum, 4290 S. School Avenue, Fayetteville, Arkansas.
