This year’s Amplify Decatur Music Festival will be held Friday through Sunday and feature a series of free events on the downtown Decatur Square from 3-11 p.m. Saturday.

On Friday, April 25, Amplify will host a ticketed event at 7 p.m. at Avon Theater (formerly Avondale Town Cinema) featuring The Core, a tribute band who recaptures the energy and excitement of the legendary HORDE Festivals of the 1990s. The Core’s repertoire includes songs from HORDE acts such as Widespread Panic, Dave Matthews Band, Phish, Col. Bruce Hampton and The Aquarium Rescue Unit, Big Head Todd & the Monsters, The Black Crowes, The Allman Brothers Band, Spin Doctors, Blues Traveler, Gov’t Mule, Lenny Kravitz, The Samples, Freddy Jones Band, Allgood, and many more. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door.

Saturday April 26’s event will be held from 5-11 p.m. on the Decatur Square starring headliners The Last Waltz Ensemble, who will perform the greatest hits of Bob Dylan and The Band. The group is named after The Band’s famous farewell concert, The Last Waltz.

Saturday will also feature free, pop-up performances from 3-5 p.m. at venues and restaurants throughout downtown Decatur.

On Sunday, April 27, Amplify and Eddie’s Attic will host a show called The Bad ******* of Country, which pays tribute to the greatest female country artists with performances by local and regional female acts. The evening will include songs made famous by Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Beyonce, and more. Showtime is at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 and are available at EddiesAttic.com.
