Clubs and Organizations
March 6, 2025
Our hearts go out to those families impacted by the devastating wildfires in the Los Angeles area. Our disaster response teams are still on the ground, delivering lifesaving relief and helping communities through this challenging time. You can learn more about our ongoing efforts here.
March is here, and with it, Red Cross Month and our annual Giving Day on March 26! But do you know the history of these celebrations?
Red Cross Month was first proclaimed over 80 years ago by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to raise national awareness of our organization and our mission to help all in need.
This month, we invite you join in our mission:
-- Donate on Red Cross Giving Day, March 26.
-- Volunteer with your local Red Cross.
-- Learn lifesaving skills like first aid, CPR and childcare.
-- Give blood at a drive near you.
Celebrate Red Cross Month by Volunteering Today!
It’s been more than 140 years since Clara Barton founded the American Red Cross, and her vision to prevent and alleviate human suffering has never wavered. Generation after generation, people have come together to adapt this timeless mission to meet their communities’ most urgent needs — building on the foundation that Clara started so long ago. Continue her legacy and join our volunteer team today.

Donate a Vehicle to the Red Cross Today!
Your old vehicle has something left to give. By donating it to the Red Cross, you can help power our lifesaving mission. Every day, people face emergencies of all sizes — from prolonged and life-threatening blood shortages, to more frequent and intense disasters like wildfires and hurricanes, to the unique challenges faced by military families, to a person in need of lifesaving CPR provided by a trained bystander.
Donating your vehicle — in almost any condition — is one great way to help us help others in your community. Watch this short video to learn more about our Vehicle Donation Program.
“Spring Forward” & Test Your Smoke Alarms
It’s that time of year again! This is your friendly reminder to turn your clocks forward one hour on Sunday, March 9 and take a moment to test your smoke alarms, too. Smoke alarms are one of the best ways to protect your family from a home fire — which is the nation’s most common disaster. The time you spend testing your smoke alarms could literally save lives — including your own! Make fire safety a priority in your home today.
Help Provide Meals with Meaning
Some meals are better shared. When disaster strikes, the Red Cross is there to provide immediate relief, offering safe shelter, nourishing meals, health services, comfort and more. This March, you can support disaster relief efforts by sharing your go-to comfort meal on social media and encouraging your friends and family to donate by texting MEALS to 90999. Together, we can provide #MealsWithMeaning. Learn more here!
Become a Champion with a Monthly Donation
We are inviting you to join a special group of supporters we call Red Cross Champions! When you give a monthly gift, your charitable giving is at work around the clock helping the Red Cross prepare and respond at a moment’s notice — no further action required.
"My story is simple. As I see and hear of disasters near and far, I also see the Red Cross there as well. It is a joy to be able to help through a modest monthly contribution. Thank you Red Cross for all you do!" — Yvonne, Red Cross Champion

Here at the American Red Cross, March is an important time of year to celebrate the people who make our mission possible and recognize all our Red Cross community can achieve when we channel our compassion into action.??
Throughout the year, your collective efforts help to change lives. Because of you, the Red Cross can offer shelter, emotional support and warm meals to those who’ve been displaced by a disaster or emergency. Your dedication also ensures families receive the assistance they need to rebuild after the darkest days of their lives.
This March, we have an opportunity to recognize both Red Cross Month and our eleventh annual Giving Day on March 26. If you’re able, please consider making an early Giving Day gift today so the Red Cross can continue to be a source of comfort and relief for all who need us.
On behalf of those we serve, thank you for being a part of this compassionate community — and we wish you a happy Red Cross Month.
