Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance have awarded Advisors Insurance Group a 2025 Make More Happen Award for its volunteerism with Developing K.I.D.S., a nonprofit organization dedicated to building stronger, vibrant communities across metropolitan Detroit by empowering youth with after-school programs, career guidance, and essential resources. The award includes an initial donation of $5,000, which can be doubled to $10,000 with community support through an online vote.

The Advisors Insurance Group and Developing K.I.D.S. community story is highlighted on the official Make More Happen microsite at https://www.agentgiving.com/advisors-insurance-group,  where supporters can vote to help the team reach their donation goal. If the featured story receives a combination of at least 500 votes and comments, the donation will increase to $10,000. This funding will provide after-school and summer meals for an entire school year, ensuring kids have the nutrition they need to thrive.

After meeting Kim Johnson, founder of Developing K.I.D.S., Scott Bleim, owner of Advisors Insurance Group, and his team were deeply inspired by the organization’s mission. For nearly two decades, Developing K.I.D.S. has provided Detroit’s youth with educational support, mentorship, and resources to help them build a brighter future.

Scott, his brother Matt, and their staff regularly donate time and financial support, participating in social events and mentoring young people about career opportunities, including the benefits of a career in the insurance industry.

“Helping to make our community a better place has always been important to our team and Developing K.I.D.S. has given us a way to make a real difference,” said Bleim. “We are grateful to Liberty Mutual and Safeco for providing much-needed funds to continue their impactful work and thrilled at the opportunity to double the donation just by calling on the community to show their support.” 

In its new facility, Developing K.I.D.S. serves 100 youth each day with enriching after-school programs and provides a healthy dinner after every activity. During the summer, the program expands to serve 285 youth daily, offering breakfast, lunch, and snacks. More than 93% of participants come from working families struggling to make ends meet, and the stability of these meals allows children to focus on learning and growing.

Throughout 2025, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance will select up to 36 independent agencies nationwide for a Make More Happen Award, donating up to $360,000 to nonprofits they support. Agencies become eligible for the award by submitting applications showcasing their commitment to a specific cause.
