Join us for a fascinating journey through the cosmos as we explore the connections between the solar system, mythology, and music. This free, public program brings together the Spartanburg Philharmonic, Spartanburg County Public Libraries, and NASA Solar System Ambassador David Leaphart to examine how celestial bodies have inspired art and storytelling throughout history.
From ancient myths to modern space exploration, discover how composers like Gustav Holst and Peter Kay have transformed the mysteries of the universe into music. Learn about the latest discoveries from space telescopes, get a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of a new musical work, and witness how science and the arts continue to shape our understanding of the cosmos.
This program will also serve as the foundation for new types of programs at The Planetarium featuring live performance recordings, NASA imagery, and expert interviews. Just as with music, the creative possibilities are endless. Don’t miss this unique collaboration that bridges the gap between science, history, and the arts!
