Randy Cummings: How Did This Happen?
Well intentioned people everywhere are asking this question. No rational explanation, no massive protest march will ever be able to square how a misanthrope was able to seduce a nation. Greed and stupidity seem to ground the ascension of the man who would be king. Artists have always been the first line of defense in resisting oppression.Think of Max Beckman who was relentlessly pursued across Europe by fascist ideologues; or Kathie Kolwitz who was censured for her outspoken condemnation of Nazi racism. The list of visual artists who were prescribed as outlaws is a disconsolate fact of history. My new series of paintings defer to the imagination as an antidote to ideological deception.

Naropa University Art Students: Immediacy
Immediacy is the quality of being immediate, or the feeling that something is real and important. It can be verbal or nonverbal, and can be used in communication, teaching, or describing a feeling.
Naropa University is honored to be invited to show Naropa student works at the Edge Gallery for a third year! As the Gallery Director, I asked the students to develop a theme for this year's exhibition: Immediacy (the emotions of the moment are all we know). Entering 2025 with changes being developed daily - the present - the now moment - is important to recognize and be aware.
