MIBBB Fest has expanded - events will extend from June 13 - June 22, 2025. And yes, the rumor is true. Dogs will fly.

Saturday, 6/21/25 - The Men in Black Birthday Bash @ Quarterdeck, Des Moines. 5:30-9:00 p.m. (doors open at 5:30; program begins with the “Great Synchronization” countdown at 6:22 sharp!). The cosplay party that celebrates the 1947 start of it all! Join 175+ other men and women in black to celebrate your 1947 UFO roots with music, comedy, awards, quirky surprises and traditions, legendary swag, insider information about the pending invasion, and more. Saturday, 6/21/25 - MIBBB Games Afterparty @ Waterland Arcade, Des Moines. 9:30 p.m. to close. The Official Men In Black Birthday Bash Debrief party, with over 50 classic arcade games, a space-themed soundtrack, and over 40 ice cold craft beers and ciders. And, of course Space Invaders was an MIB recruiting tool! Waterland Arcade, 22306 Marine View Drive S, Des Moines. All ages. NEW: Friday, 6/13/25 - Colleen Rafferty (Alien Abductee) Lookalike Contest! 5:30-7:30 p.m. (one full week before the Bash!). Hosted by Marina Mercantile, 22341 Marine View Dr S Suite A, Des Moines; presented by Harper Studios. Launch into a week of MIBBB Fest with the world’s simplest – and funniest – cosplay on this or any other planet. Kate McKinnon’s legendary SNL character “Ms. Rafferty” has been repeatedly abducted by aliens, released, and interviewed by the MIB; the character has proven so popular that she was abducted on at least 9 episodes. Let’s pay homage to comic genius! The rules? Come as a “Ms. Rafferty” (or a "Mr."). 21+ Free but ticketed - space is limited! Pick a "CR Compete" ticket to join in the contest (you'll get to read a randomly drawn line of dialogue), or a "CR Watch" ticket because you want to dress like Ms. Rafferty, but watch others "compete." Everyone cosplays!

NEW: 6/13 - 6/20/25 – “Alienvitation” Experience and Scavenger Hunt, Westfield Southcenter Mall. Presented by Explore Seattle Southside. Invite those 1947 aliens back! Experience the new, museum-quality Maury Island Incident and Men in Black interactive exhibits at Westfield Southcenter mall! Enter the scavenger hunt: solve the clues, take the pictures, collect your prize and enter for the grand prize! Free; no tickets required. Official rules posted on May 15.

NEW: Friday, 6/20/25 - "Alienvitation" Saucers and Sass Movie and Trivia Night, Westfield Mall, 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm. It’s an out-of-this-world night presented by Explore Seattle Southside. Come see The Maury Island Incident film on the BIG screen at the AMC Southcenter 16 Theaters, followed by sci-fi themed trivia, prizes, and performances—all hosted by our favorite drag queen! Movie is ticketed; trivia contest, snacks included. Cash bar. Space is limited.

NEW: Sunday, 6/22/25 - Destination Des Moines Presents "Sparky's Revenge" Flying Disc Dog Tournament. 11a.m. -1p.m., Des Moines Fieldhouse. In 1947, the flying discs tragically killed Sparky the dog. Now, 78 years later, the dogs finally bite the flying discs back! Flying discs and leaping dogs, tournament style, featuring Summit Disc Dogs. There can be only one “Sparky” at the end of the day! Free to the public.

Why the fuss?
On June 22, 1947, one day after Harold Dahl saw six flying discs of Maury Island, Washington, he encountered history’s first alleged “men in black.” And unknowingly launched a mythological and pop culture juggernaut we all know today. So, each year, on the anniversary of the first “men in black” warning, MIBBB Fest celebrates the event - in “black-and-white” - on the shores of Puget Sound, in the sunset shadow of Maury Island.
