6:30 pm – A Toast to History: Key West Pride Champagne Toast, Exhibition, and the Stonewall Uprising. Key West Art & Historical Society and the Key West Business Guild are hosting a champagne reception and special screening of the documentary, Stonewall Uprising at Tropic Cinema. The documentary, produced as part of the PBS series “American Experience,” examines the events leading up to what is seen as the defining moment in the establishment of the gay rights movement in the United States––the riot at the Stonewall Inn in New York City in the summer of 1969. The screening, which begins at 7:30 PM, will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Cori Convertito. *The screening complements The Stonewall Uprising: The Start of a Movement exhibition at the Key West Museum of Art & History and the annual Key West PRIDE celebration.
