Cultural Practitioner
Mahalo for your interest in Hale Hālāwai O Puna (HHOP) Cultural Hub! We are excited to invite you to be part of our journey in fostering cultural connection, economic growth, and community resilience.
Our launch event is set for Saturday, May 3rd, marking the 7th anniversary of the 2018 Kīlauea volcanic eruption. This gathering, along with future events, is designed to strengthen community ties, promote regenerative tourism, attract visitors to Lower Puna, and celebrate our rich cultural heritage and resilience.
To be considered for our May 3rd opening, and to stay informed about year-round opportunities, please complete this form to register for our Cultural Practitioner Directory.
As a cultural practitioner, we welcome you to share your knowledge, demonstrate your skills and craft, and inspire others to appreciate and engage with indigenous traditions. We encourage practices such as weaving, kapa making, poi pounding, printing with native and natural materials, lei making, and interactive storytelling – all of which create meaningful connections and help preserve our heritage.
Practitioners will receive an honorarium for their time, which will be determined based on factors such as years of expertise, teaching experience, the time and materials required for preparation, and any additional relevant considerations. Within one week of your submission, HHOP will reach out to confirm your participation and discuss the honorarium details.
