"Diary of a Mother", an original play starring New Bern's own gifted Gospel performer, Bonita Burney Simmons, will be presented on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm at the New Bern Civic Theater on Pollock Street. Tried By Fire, Inc. brings this unique fundraiser event to the local stage to benefit My Sister's House, a transitional home that provides safe and supportive shelter to women, post-incarceration, for a better opportunity to have a successful reentry experience. This is a deeply inspiring musical stage performance, appropriate for April's National Second Chance Month, that shares a personal story of how a woman's faith carried her past challenges she had to deal with. Tickets for a special youth matinee at 2:00 pm are $25, and the 6:00 pm show has VIP tickets at $53 and General Admission tickets at $38.
