This season’s 2nd installment of KCH’s Siciliano Salon Series celebrates the rich and sonorous world of the alto range in piano trios featuring clarinet and viola. This distinctive combination creates a lush tapestry of sound, setting it apart from the traditional piano trio with violin and cello. It is no surprise that Mozart saw the exceptional qualities of this instrument formation, and set the stage for other composers to use the same. The artists will be perform the Mozart Kegelstatt Trio, Schumann’s Märchenerzählungen, and the Bruch Trio Op.8 - three pieces written specifically for the special timbre of piano, clarinet, and viola.
Program:
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Kegelstatt Trio
Robert Schumann – Märchenerzählungen
Max Bruch – Trio Op. 8
Artists:
Julia Siciliano, piano
Ralph Skiano, clarinet
Dominic Johnson, viola
