The Timucua and Other Indigenous Peoples of Amelia Island with Keith Ashley
Join us for March’s Brown Bag Lunch with archaeologist and associate professor of Anthropology Keith Ashley to explore the lives of Indigenous groups that once resided on or near Amelia Island during the 16th through 18th centuries. Learn about the Timucua-speaking Mocamas and the immigrant Muskhogean-speaking Guales and Yamasees of Georgia, who made their way onto the island in the mid-1600s. See how inaccurate the DeBry engravings are when it comes to the Timucua.
Cost: Free and attendees may bring their lunch!
