We are proud to announce that the Marine Museum will be awarded the 2014 John S. Brayton

Award, joining other Fall River individuals and organizations recognized as inspirations in making our region a better place to live and work. The Reverend Robert Lawrence, President of the museum’s Board of Directors, noted that “The Marine Museum is proud of Fall River’s response to the need to preserve our waterfront’s rich heritage. We are very appreciative of the Chamber’s recognition, and grateful to our community, whose support for the museum enables us to continue telling the story of Fall River’s vibrant maritime history.” Reverend Lawrence joins the members, staff, and volunteers in offering their thanks to the Chamber for selecting the museum for this award.

John S. Brayton, a member of a pioneer family, was a leader of exemplary character and

integrity, known equally for possessing extraordinary vision and the determination to modernize Fall River.

The 46th John S. Brayton Community Service Awards Banquet will be held on the evening of June 19, 2014 at White’s of Westport. The Marine Museum Board,

Mary Concannon, Curator of the Marine Museum, offers her perspective, “It is an incredible

honor for the Marine Museum to be recognized by the Chamber for its contributions to the

community of Fall River. We value all the partnerships that enable the museum to be such a vital part of our neighborhoods and our region, and we deeply appreciate the support of everyone who makes this possible."

Of special note! Roger Dugal, Board of Directors member, is an individual recipient of this year’s award.
