At the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino
Limited number of people will get the opportunity to scale down 30 stories
Special Olympics Northern California and Nevada is looking for thrill seekers and those wanting to do something out of the ordinary. Over the Edge® Reno is offering 84 people the opportunity to rappel thirty stories down the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino’s tower.
Leading up to the exhilarating rappel on June 29 and 30, participants will gather pledges from donors to help raise the funds necessary to allow Special Olympics to continue to create opportunities for Northern California and Nevada athletes to participate in regional, national and international athletic competition while promoting acceptance, building bonds of friendship and unity, and creating lifelong memories.
Grand Sierra Resort and Casino has returned as the rappel site for a second time in as many years. “We are excited to be a part of an event that is both unique and promotes a great cause,” said Mary Beth Olson, Vice President Community Affairs, Grand Sierra Resort and Casino. “Our corporation wants to support the athletes in our community who prove everyday that there’s nothing they can’t do when they try.”
Registration and donations for Over the Edge Reno benefiting Special Olympics are currently being accepted online at www.OverTheEdgeReno.com. To commemorate the experience, all participants will be rewarded with official Over the Edge gear and an invite to the post-rappel party for reaching their fundraising goals (minimum of $1,000).
No experience is necessary to participate. Everyone will receive on-site training by Over the Edge, a Nova Scotia company that organizes rappelling events for Special Olympics all over North America.
