UCMP (United Children’s Music Project) creates a better life for underserved children and youth through affordable music education. We envision a world where kids reach their full potential by developing academic and life skills through increased access to low-cost, high-quality musical training and arts. UCMP's After School Orchestral Music Program transforms Hudson County, NJ's 3-to-18-year-olds through free instruments, instruction, and performances.
Serving Hudson County's urban communities of Union City, Weehawken, North Bergen, West New York, Hoboken, and Jersey City, UCMP over the past 13 years has given more than 800 at-risk 3-to-18-year-olds access to free instruments and ten months/year of low-cost professional after-school music training (average $2/hour tuition for 240 hrs/yr instruction). UCMP kids learn music, gain life skills, do better in math/reading, graduate their grades and high school, and go on to college and good jobs.
