West Jefferson operates Bowie-Seagraves Park near the center of Town. Residents and visitors may use picnic shelters, a baseball field, tennis courts, a basketball court, horseshoe pits, and a playground.

Reservations are needed for the picnic shelters. Please call Town Hall at 246-3551 for more information and to reserve a shelter.

The Ashe Little League Association is leading a fund-raising effort for improvements to the park's ball fields. Advertising signs around the outfield fence may be purchased for a one-time fee of $75 with an annual $225 donation to the effort. The signs will be viewable during baseball season (from March to September) and stored for the winter. All donations are reserved for ball field improvements.

Project PLAY is working with the Town to replace the playground equipment with a safety-rated and handicapped-accessible playground. When completed, it will be the only handicapped-accessible playground available to the public. The project estimate is currently $100,000 and fund raising has generated approximately half of this amount. The playground replacement is scheduled for the summer of 2005.
