It is a distinct honor to welcome you to the Spaulding Memorial School, an early childhood center, consisting of students from pre-school to grade two. Presently the school population is approximately 450 students. The entire staff has a strong commitment to the success of every child at the school. We embrace each child at the level of knowledge they are when entering school and assist them in the learning process throughout their years at the school.
Our curriculum is based on the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. The English/Languages Arts program focuses on the acquisition of language skills such as: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Throughout the teaching of these skills there is always the underlying goal of developing students who have a love of learning. The Math program stresses skills and concept development, which progresses from the concrete to the written form. Observation, inquiry and understanding are the foundation of our hands-on approach to Science. Social Studies and social skills encompass citizenship, knowing your community, good manners, respect, honesty, and a positive relationship with adults and peers. In addition, children have an opportunity to participate in classes in Physical Education, Art, Library, Music and Technology. This extensive curriculum provides each child with a comprehensive learning experience.
