The South Carolina Peanut Party has been going nuts for 26 years. The Peanut Party began back on August 28, 1982. Back then the festival was a one day event. This year it is a 3 day event with carnival rides, food vendors, parade, live entertainment, craft show and so much more!

The dream of a peanut party came about from long hours of planning by the Town of Pelion elected officials and community members proud of their heritage, in conjunction with the SC Peanut Board and Cromer's Peanuts. The proceeds from the first festival went to the Pelion Rescue Squad, Pelion Fire Department, the Pelion High Booster club and various other community and school activities. The following years' proceeds financed a scholarship for a town doctor and the establishment of the Pelion Branch of the circulating Lexington County Library.
