Shepherds, Inc. is a nondenominational nonprofit organization whose mission is to reach out to at-risk inner city Connecticut youth, offering them a quality college preparatory education at a non-public high school with the introduction of a positive role model - a Mentor - who fills a void in their lives. Sponsors pay the student's four-year tuition. Mentors work one-on-one with students, providing guidance, encouragement and direction over the four-year journey. Founded 11 years ago with five students at one school - Kolbe Cathedral in Bridgeport - Shepherds' current student population is 72 students across six partnership schools, serving the needs of disadvantaged youth in Bridgeport, Danbury, Middletown, New Haven, Norwalk and Stamford. To-date, 114 Shepherds students have earned their high school diplomas, 91% of whom pursued higher education.
Shepherds is currently recruiting Sponsors and Mentors for incoming Freshman, Class of 2014. Please call today to learn how you can change the direction of a young person's life!
