About the Church:
Rehobeth Baptist was established
in 1819 and is now home to approximately 80 members.
For almost 200 years, Rehobeth Baptist has enjoyed
a rich tradition of proclaiming Jesus as Savior,
and meeting the needs of the people in our community,
as well as surrounding communities.
The wood-framed church building that once housed
the sanctuary of Rehobeth Baptist was constructed
in 1912. At the bottom of the gable roof, a lighted
sign greeted visitors with the acknowledgment
that "God is Love".
In 2006, the sanctuary building was destroyed by fire. A new church facility was built next to the existing fellowship hall which was unharmed by the fire.
A journalist once said, "You know you're in rural Alabama when the road sign says 'Pavement Ends'". Just off of a road such as this, you will find Rehobeth Baptist Church. The community of Lawley is located 50 miles southwest of Birmingham, Alabama in Bibb County. Bibb County has a population of approximately 22,000.
