About Us:
The Orcas Island Garden Club boasts over 125 members representing a broad cross-section of islanders with a multitude of gardening interests. Some are recent arrivals to the island eager to learn about the wonderful local gardening opportunities, and some are seasoned gardeners who have been islanders for many years. Some grow beautiful flowers and others raise vegetables or have orchards. Some are most interested in the Club's outstanding lecture series and others enjoy the camaraderie of the Potluck Luncheons. Over 15% have become Washington State University Master Gardeners.
Meetings take place on the third Wednesday of each month, September through May, in the Madrona Room at the Orcas Center and start at 10:00 AM. Typically our sessions begin with a short business meeting followed by a "how-to demonstration" by a local Master Gardener, then a coffee break followed by an illustrated presentation given by an invited speaker from the mainland. Most members sign up to participate in the Potluck luncheon afterward.
