New Mexico Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program


The New Mexico Ombudsman program advocates for the civil and human rights of individuals living in long-term care facilities. Ombudsmen provide a voice for residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities at a time when they are particularly vulnerable. Ombudsmen assist these residents by advocating for their rights, investigating complaints and helping to resolve their concerns fairly, and ensuring they receive the care they deserve. Ombudsman services are free, confidential, and provided statewide by certified volunteers and staff.

Established through the Older Americans Act of 1965, The Ombudsman program is both federally and state mandated, and a division of the New Mexico Aging and Long-Term Services Department.
