History :
For 87 years the Muskegon Community Concert Association has been supporting the cultural and aesthetic growth of our city by providing a dynamic spectrum of internationally known artists in the best possible performance milieu.
The Muskegon Civic Music Association, established in 1923, was part of a national organization established according to the Civic Music Plan, begun by Miss Dema E. Harsilbarger of Chicago.
The Civic Music Plan emerged to promote the progress and appreciation of music through civic activities showcasing fine artists while affording local audiences a sense of artistic ownership. This plan continues today in hundreds of communities throughout the United States, serving millions of members through the universal language of the performing arts..
