McLean Art Society

History and Objectives:

The McLean Art Society, Inc. was organized in 1955 by a group of artists in the McLean area for the purpose of bringing together local artists to share their interests, enrich their experiences in art, and make creative contributions to their community. The society has grown to include a variety of media: watercolor, oils, drawing, pottery, printing, photography and sculpting.

Our membership includes professionals, non-professionals, and student artists, as well as those just interested in art. Membership is open to all persons (16 and older) who reside in the metropolitan and surrounding areas.

All society meetings are open to the public and are announced in local newspapers to encourage community participation.

Community Outreach:

The McLean Art Society is a proud member of the Arts Council of Fairfax County and keeps club members appraised of shows and activities in which they can participate.

Club members also make contributions to the local community in the form of donations of work to charitable art auctions, donations of art and craft books to the public library, volunteer hours spent teaching art to senior citizen groups,  hanging shows for display in community buildings and offices, etc.
