Wrangler baseball came to Luray in June, 2001. Current President Bill Turner, also General Manager for the 2001 season, and partners bought the team in 2002 and the ownership has remained stable since.
Dave Pano coached the Wranglers in 2001 and was succeeded in the following season by Scott Feldman, who led the Wranglers until mid-season 2003. Mike Bocock assumed coaching duties after Feldman and continues in that same role today.
The Wranglers are the second team to represent Luray in the Valley Baseball League. From the late 50’s to the early 70’s the Luray Colonials competed in the Valley League. The Colonials were the team to beat in the late 60’s as they won the Valley League Championship in 1966,1967, 1968, & 1969. In 1971 the Colonials left the Valley League and joined the Rockingham County Baseball League, competing until 1973 when the team disbanded.
