Our Mission

To provide access to quality cultural arts and education programs and to promote the arts, music, and the city of Lubbock as a cultural center.

As a public cultural art center, the Garden and Arts Center offers a rich variety of arts programs for youths, adults, seniors, and families. Programs include art education classes, monthly exhibits, garden classes and shows, summer camps, and art and photography competitions.

Looking for a meeting location? The Garden and Arts Center provides meeting space for many cultural groups and non-profit organizations in Lubbock including garden clubs, environmental organizations, quilting guilds, and art associations.

The Garden and Arts Center is located in beautiful Clapp Park at 44th and University. Let us schedule your wedding or your next special event in one of our many wonderful settings, including the Rose Garden, Tea Terrace, Lubbock Memorial Arboretum Gazebo or St. Paul's on the Plains.

The Lubbock Municipal Garden and Arts Center opened its doors in June 1960 and celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2010. Generations of patrons have walked through the doors to experience art through classes taught by professional artists, joined one of the center’s many cultural groups or garden clubs, and made the GAC the most-used facility in the City of Lubbock Parks and Recreation System. The Center has become home to many award-winning artists and gardeners and a haven for all members of the community looking for a place to explore the artist in themselves.
