The Linda Nolen Learning Center is located in Alabaster, in southwestern Shelby County, the fastest growing county in Alabama. The center is a self-contained public day school, fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. We serve Shelby County students ages 5-21 who qualify with severe physical, mental, or emotional needs with an individualized instructional program. Students are provided dailyopportunities for educational development in academic reasoning, communication skills, daily living skills, physical growth and development, social and emotional skills, technological/assistive skills and vocational skills. The administration, faculty, and staff of Linda Nolen Learning Center service students with special needs. We individualize programs to prepare these students mentally, socially, and emotionally for independence, thus building a healthy self-esteem. We believe that all students can learn and each teacher has the responsibility to maximize their students' individual abilities. We believe that, given the opportunity, students will rise to meet high levels of expectations set in the classroom and school.
