It is that every people group in the entire world would have a chance to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ in their own language. That is the final command given to The Church by Jesus just before He ascended to heaven and that must be the focus of all that we do.

 Lexington Baptist Church is working toward this goal at all times by training and sending our members into mission fields locally, nationally and internationally. We believe that we have been blessed by God so that we can be a blessing to all the people groups of the world and we are striving to accomplish this through our mission giving, going, and praying. Please come join us in this most urgent task.

The basis for our understanding of God's plan for humanity is found in John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." God desires a personal relationship with each person and we can have that relationship in all its fullness when we place our trust in Jesus Christ, who died on the cross that our sins might be forgiven and cleansed.

To "believe" that Jesus is the Son of God and the only Savior of mankind means to "trust" Jesus personally. When we pray to confess our sins and invite Jesus to be our Savior, we receive the gift of eternal life and become part of God's "forever" family. Through our relationship with Jesus, we can know God's love, His plan, and His power for our daily living. In fact, Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

When we have made the personal decision to trust Jesus, we are then admonished to "assemble ourselves together" in the local body of believers: the church. Through participation in believer's baptism (a public identification with Jesus), each person enters into a commitment to the faith community. It is in the local church body that we can experience personal spiritual "growth" that leads to "service" in our daily living, and then moves to "sharing" Jesus with others.
