This IDPA club has been in existence since 2004 and has recently changed names to Las Cruces IDPA and became affiliated locally with Picacho Gun Club in January 2015. We are also affiliated with the "parent" organization, International Defensive Pistol Association and you can learn more about the organization.
Las Cruces IDPA is an open, supportive and friendly group of shooters where you can develop at your own pace and have fun regardless of the level of your shooting skills.
As you might imagine, we are a very safety oriented group and place your safety, as well as ours, Number 1 above all else we do. There are numerous safety rules, they are there for a purpose, and we enforce them.
Our club has 2 different shooting environments, learning and competition, melded into one. You decide which is best for you and go as fast as you want.
We hold a learning class so those that are new to IDPA can spend a few hours of indoor class time understanding what IDPA is all about, reviewing the basics of gun handling, scoring, how best to utilize cover to protect yourself, and some of the other basic rules of IDPA. Then we spend some time at the range putting into practice what is learned in the class. These classes meet as needed but don’t hesitate to ask for information. The best part, they are free except for ammo.
Our matches are held on the 1st Sunday and 3rd Saturday of the month. We invite you to come and watch, ask questions or participate if you are so inclined. You can learn a lot just by watching and even more by participating but beware….. It will get into your blood and you won’t want to stop.
