Kimball Farm is a working family farm that has been in the family since 1820 and is now owned and run by 9th generation farmer Tyler Kimball with a focus on sustainable farming. As generation after generation has taken over the farm, it has evolved.
The farm was once run as a dairy farm until 1977 and has transformed into what it is today. The Kimballs have raised beef cattle, llamas, pigs and chickens. Tyler also runs Kimball Farm Feeds, which is a leading supplier of hay, feed and bedding for horses and cattle to many farmers in New England. Kimball farm includes a certified USDA composting operation. Most of the compost is used for our own fields but, we also sell compost and loam.
Our farm stand opens in early summer and offers a selection of grass fed beef, all natural pork and fresh eggs raised right here. Produce such as garlic, onions, and potatoes will be available. We will be opening our sugar house, currently under construction, this fall to also be able to offer our own maple syrup. It is our hope to include some local crafts to our offerings this year.
In 2007 Tyler expanded the farm to include Agri-tainment when the first corn maze was designed and opened. It has been a wonderful experience both for us and our patrons every fall since. Along with the corn maze we also offer hay rides and sleigh rides. We have added a few stragglers such a goats, sheep, and alpacas that wait out front for visitors to come by with apples and carrots. But, by far, the favorites of the farm are our two Belgian work horses, Mike and Mark. They also come right out to greet visitors and accept the occasional treat. Don't worry, they work it off when it is time for hay rides and sleigh rides.
